“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” — Marcel Proust
There’s a time and place for the boardroom. But if you’re reading this, you already know: sometimes you need to shake off the “business as usual” and get out of the office.
Whether it’s a planning session, team retreat or change of scenes, this is what Byron Event Room was made for. Just off the village centre and only steps from Basq House, Byron Event Room is private, light-filled and fully equipped. And what makes it work is not just the space itself but the experience that surrounds it.
There’s no single way to run a team offsite. But if you’re bringing your group to Byron Bay, our team has put together a helpful guide to make your trip memorable, meaningful and rewarding for everyone involved.
Day 1
Morning | Arrive & Set the Tone
If you’re staying at Basq House, drop off your luggage at Reception and take a short walk down the stairs to the Byron Event Room. It’s calm, private and ready to go. Help yourselves to coffee, set up your laptops at the boardroom table, connect to fast Wi-Fi, and settle in. The space includes an 85-inch screen, wireless conferencing system, speakers and climate control. With 35 square metres, the light-filled space provides you with plenty of room to work as a team.

Afternoon | Check In & Recharge
Order in a relaxed but delicious team lunch from Bay Pizza Lab, then step downstairs into Navia. This Scandinavian-inspired bathhouse is Byron’s first of its kind, offering traditional Finnish saunas, magnesium soaks, cold plunges and massage treatments. From 3pm, head back to Basq House and check into your room. Each one is a little sanctuary in its own right: king beds, plush linen, soft light, a kitchenette, thoughtful details and private balconies.
Evening | Wind Down
Take a stroll to Jonson Lane for a low-key night out. This pocket of Byron blends retail and dining beautifully. Window shop, then choose from some local favourites: Light Years for vibrant pan-Asian plates, Pixie for cocktails and handmade pasta, or Bar Heather for natural wines and share plates. After dinner, return to Basq and ease into the evening by the fire, a round of chess or a quiet retreat to your room.
Day 2
Morning | Coffee & Work
Start your day at Bayleaf, just a few minutes from Basq and a favourite among locals. The coffee’s taken seriously and the breakfast menu is fresh and seasonal. It’s a popular spot, so if you want to explore other options, be sure to check out our guide to Byron’s best breakfast spots here. After, head back across the road for a focused working session in the Byron Event Room. Whether your team needs to present, collaborate or work quietly, the space is adaptable to suit your needs.
Afternoon | Time to Roam
Keep the afternoon open and follow your nose. Some might walk the Byron Headland Trail to the lighthouse or grab a surfboard or Lekker bike from Reception (we’ve shared our favourite bike trails here). Others might prefer lunch in town—try No Bones, Japonaise Kitchen, Orgasmic Food or Miss Margarita. Bring lunch to the beach, take it poolside, or settle in with a book in the Library. And for those ready to shop, here’s our round-up of Byron’s best boutiques and hidden gems.
Evening | Explore More
Byron’s food scene deserves time. Drive out to Bangalow for a late pub-style lunch at You Beauty. Check out Ciao Mate! and its woodfired pizzas, or stay closer to town and try Mez Club, Hutong Harry’s, Bang Bang, or The Smoking Camel. (More local dining favourites here.) If you’ve got energy to spare, there are bars, live music and late-night bites to round out the night—you’ll find our nightlife picks here.
Day 3
Morning | Wrap & Reflect
Start slow. Coffee and pastries are waiting at Reception. Find a quiet spot in the Living Room, Library or by the pool. Then when the time feels right, reconvene in the Event Room for a final session. Check-out is at 11am, giving you time to reflect and wrap on a thoughtful note.
