Byron Bay Lighthouse & Wategos Beach
Situated on Australia’s easternmost point, the lighthouse is a 45-minute walk (or a 90-minute round trip) from Basq House and a must-see destination offering stunning views over the coast. Once you’ve taken in the views, head down to Wategos Beach, a quieter and more peaceful beach with great swimming spots.
Soak, Swim, Surf & More
Just one look at Byron Bay's coastline and you'll be craving a swim. Our local beaches offer idyllic swimming spots (like Wategos Beach), as well as prime opportunities for water sports and fun. For fresh produce lovers, the Byron Farmers Market is a treasure trove. You’ll find beautiful local foods and artisan products here, every Thursday from 7–11am.
Visit Bangalow
Known for its boutique shops, local cafés, and a relaxed atmosphere, Bangalow is the most charming village, located just 15 minutes’ drive from Byron Bay. Stop for wood-fired pizza at Ciao, Mate! or head to Woods for a peaceful lunch, tucked away from the main street.
Bangalow is also home to sought-after boutiques such as Rowie, Assembly Label and Chandra Collections. For art lovers, Ninbella Gallery showcases both Indigenous and non-Indigenous art, reflecting the rich culture of the Byron area, which is located on the traditional lands of the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung Nation
Explore Killen Falls
If you’re looking to spend time in nature, take the 30-minute drive to Killen Falls. This peaceful escape into the rainforest offers a serene and awe-inspiring experience. The falls cascade into a deep pool surrounded by lush greenery, creating the perfect spot to reflect and recharge.

Upon returning to Byron village, plan some time at Jonson Lane—just a 15-minute stroll from Basq House. This boutique shopping and dining destination featuring the likes of Venroy, Deiji Studios, Nagnata and Saturdays NYC. For dinner, we wholeheartedly recommend Pixie Food & Wine, Light Years, or Bar Heather for great food and wine in the heart of Byron.
